The People Who Push Our Buttons: Karma and Working with Difficult Relationships (Part 2) Are you tired of the same challenging people showing up in your life? Have you ever wondered why certain relationships trigger strong reactions—or why familiar patterns keep repeating? This two-part series offers a fresh and practical way to understand and work with difficult relationships through the lens of karma. Rather than trying to make challenging people disappear, we’ll explore why they appear and how these encounters can become powerful opportunities for growth and transformation. Through brief meditation, reflection, and practical exercises, participants will learn how habitual reactions are formed, how karmic patterns play out in everyday interactions, and how to respond with greater clarity, compassion, and freedom. Open to all levels. Zoom Meeting Link Meeting ID: 851 5394 5320 Passcode: 766431</image:title>

<image:title>Events - Sunday Sangha - We have a special guest this month, Brandon Everett, who will help us explore mindfulness. The Essence of Mindfulness The present moment is the only moment that is ever available to us. It is the only moment in which we can love. It is the only moment in which we can pursue healing, growth, and connection. And it is the only moment in which realizing our inmost potential is possible. Our situation calls to mind the words of Zen master Shunryu Suzuki "You are perfect just as you are... and you could use a little work." Mindfulness is an innate ability. It is your ability to bring a relaxed, clear attention to the present moment. Mindfulness meditation strengthens this innate ability, making it both more stable and inclusive. Stability means our attention wanders less (so we feel more present in our life). Inclusivity means our attention takes in more of what is actually happening in the present moment, as opposed to being lost in thought about what might happen. Mindfulness meditation is a simple but profound practice. In this class we will explore: + What mindfulness is + How mindfulness works + The new science and psychology of well-being and + Explore the practice of Mindfulness of Breathing Whether you are new to mindfulness meditation or an experienced meditator this class has something to offer! Bio: Brandon Everett RN, BSN, CMT-900. Brandon learned mindfulness meditation as a means to cope with the anxiety, stress, and burn out that accompanied working as a Registered Nurse in an Intensive Care Unit. The practice was so positively transformative that he resolved to do whatever training was necessary to become an authentic Mindfulness Meditation Teacher. In 2017 he graduated from a 2-year, 900-hr Meditation Teacher Training led by ClearLight Meditation Institute. Since completing his training he has gone on to share mindfulness with thousands of people, from kindergartens to graduate programs, and in businesses, non-profits, and healthcare settings throughout PA, NJ, and NY. In addition to teaching, Brandon continues to work as a Registered Nurse. All are welcome to attend the Lehigh Valley Buddhist Group’s monthly Sunday Sangha series. Sangha is open to Buddhist and non-Buddhist alike. Attendance at this time is in-person only. If you have questions please use the contact link on the website.</image:title>

<image:title>Events - Venerable Amy Miller - Choosing Kindness: Empathy, Emptiness, and Empowerment in Challenging Times - “Choosing Kindness: Empathy, Emptiness, and Empowerment in Challenging Times” In our daily lives, we are often bombarded by external experiences that show cruelty and heartlessness. We are influenced by these situations and begin to believe that in order to be happy we need to follow a particular behavior, obtain an array of material items and/or attain a certain status. Little by little, the natural authentic dynamic flow of who we really are gets blocked and instead manifests as something more constrictive, negative, hostile or fearful. So we escape, blame or numb ourselves to what is really happening. Then the ruminating mind takes over deepening a false veil on our perceptions. This is the perfect time for practice! How can we use our vulnerability to generate a strong wish to emerge from our confusion and separation and spark a deep experience of compassion for others? This program explores a path of transformation by being present with our pain, fear, and aversion and incorporates mindfulness exercises to help us move through these less than comfortable states. This workshop is open to all levels.</image:title>

<image:title>Events - Venerable Amy Miller “The Path to Joy” - Please join us for a very special 1/2 day workshop lead by the Venerable Amy Miller. We are so fortunate to have this wonderful teacher guide us along “The Path to Joy”. This program offers participants a practical roadmap of how to cultivate happiness and overcome suffering amid life’s challenges. Interweaving the “Steps on the Path” (Lam Rim), the foundational philosophy of Tibetan Buddhism, with The Book of Joy (discussions with His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu), this course explores the eight pillars of joy (perspective, humility, humor, acceptance, forgiveness, gratitude, compassion, and generosity) along with the realistic tools necessary to undertake that journey.</image:title>
<image:caption>Suggested donation is $40, but give what feels generous to you, no one will be turned away. All donations will be given to the workshop teacher.
